When tasked with writing, wording, tracking and performing a song within an hour sometimes the floodgates open and everything comes out. As cathartic as it is a challenge, it’s far from perfect but the seeds are there for a powerful song in the future.
2012 is finally allowing me to get some quality time getting the new album sorted. 12 songs are roughly tracked already and although there’s still a few songs I want to add in and some may not make the final cut yet, it’s finally feeling like things are coming together – albeit in a more electronic way than I originally planned and aimed for.
Below is a sample of the Title track to the album so you can hear that progress is most definitely happening!
While I await my new computer to be fixed (there’s a tale in itself there) this was how far I’d got on one of my live favourites N.D.E. that finally is getting a studio version completed. Of course, its all rough demo work and the final version may be somewhat different but I enjoy sharing the demo process as I go and getting feedback and hopefully some encouragement too!
You first heard a snippet of it way back in one of the first vBlog’s – here it is in its first demo format. The vocals are yet to sit right with me yet and the whole thing requires mixing etc but the main track is pretty much done. I hope you all enjoy the insight into the process of making a song !
Happy New Year to all and despite having an absolutely dire flu for the passed five weeks, finally its clearing up and I can resume work on the album. However, just for fun – here’s a (croaky) cover of Utada’s “Apple and Cinnamon” – one of my favourite songs of 2010! Download, laugh, enjoy!
“Only Human” was one of the first songs written for the new album and I’ve been desperate to show it off to everyone. Simplistic and emotional, even the low audio quality demo I think shows the potential of this track. I’d love to hear your comments!
Well its been a touch quiet round here but not for long! My studio equipments arrived and I made this very quick ad-lib track which you can listen to below.
It’s only two minutes of mucking about but I’m looking forward to tackling transposing my songs I’ve already written into this software and I can see it completely taking over my imagination already!
